Friends and Family
August 18 2005
Kathy and Larry (step-sister and brother-in-law) came down on the 16th and stayed till this morning. They said their good-byes last night and they are headed on a 6 week tour. We had a nice visit.
Barbara and Jessica came by last night. We had a good visit. Barbara has been my life saver through all this and I know I can count on her for whatever. Plus she is real good for keeping up your spirits.
I saw my Dr. (radiologist) yesterday after my treatment. He seems pleased with the fact that I still have no side effects from the radiation. I got my hair cut yesterday and sent it off to Locks of Love where they will make wigs for cancer patients, mostly children. Then they gave me a cute short bob. I like it so I have decided I won't lose my hair.
Today was my 7th brain radiation treatment and I have 7 more to go. I feel fine. I don't overdo but I still do what I want within reason.
Barbara brought me a collection that was taken up at work for me yesterday. Everyone has been so nice and helpful in any way they can. I am very lucky to have friends like that. And at times like these you really know who your friends are. I have known many people over the years but I can honestly say that my Gene Allens family are my friends. They have stood by me where other people I have known over the years have not been friends, just people I knew.
My family have all come together to help in any way they can. Cheryl has moved in to take me to my Dr's and treatments and to stay with me since I can't be left alone, or they don't want me to be left alone.
Shana has picked up financially where I can't anymore and has been a great source of strength to me in every way. My whole family has.
I got a copy of my medical records today so I will be doing some research on all of that.
