We couldn't get the zipper to work right on the tent last night, so we slept in the truck. It was a much cooler night and this morning was absolutely beautiful.
I woke up with that feeling that's coming to me quite often these days. Happiness. Contentment. Peacefulness. Gratefulness. I just can't believe I'm living my dream. I'm so thankful for each morning I awake to a gorgeous sky and breathtaking landscape.
I made myself some coffee, let the cats out and took them for their morning walk. I love the walks I take with them. They are so excited to go. Sometimes I look back and they're following me like little ducks in a row. It's the coolest thing!
Alex got up and made a giant yin yang from some quartz and black rocks he'd gathered. He doesn't want to wait until Saturday to look for crystals. We made plans to go to Dripping Springs on our own tomorrow.
Jim came by and we visited for hours. He said rain was possible tomorrow and we sure wouldn't want to be caught near that mountain in a rainstorm. He said you have to park in a wash and if it rained, our truck would be hit with a giant wall of rushing water.
I told him we had planned on walking across the desert, rather than driving the road. We wanted an adventure. He thought we were just a little crazy for wanting to do that, but he loaned us a backpack for food and water and gave Alex a very large cloth bag for collecting rocks.
He invited us to watch Wheel of Fortune and American Idol, which we did, and he ended up giving Alex a really nice hunting knife, a chain, and a ruler.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow
This is one of our favorite travel songs. You can listen to it while you're reading.
