Last Day of Chemotherapy
September 9 2005
Judy's first day of chemo was two and a half hours, but the last two days have only been an hour and a half. She's been very tired, but hasn't been sick. Today while she was sitting on the floor of the bookstore, searching through the bottom row of books, she fell sound asleep.
We got the complete medical records from the doctor the other day. I'll be putting everything up tonight sometime.
Judy's diet has been going downhill since she got the blood results. Even though she will admit the glucose level was much improved, she doesn't believe the change in her food has helped with anything else.
In the last two days she's been eating much more bread, meat, and cereal. She's out of all those healthy veggies and hasn't bought any more. I have not seen her drink any green tea, but she is drinking lots of water.
She has a sweet tooth and I'm sure she's been eating sweets, but I haven't actually seen her. Although I've been quiet (mostly) about what she's been choosing the last two days, I think she would still hide the eating of candy and pies from me.
I was happy to see that she bought some Echinacea and she is also taking a Garlic supplement to help with her immune system.
Judy was under the impression that the chemo was being used to aggressively rid her body of the cancer. When she read the medical records she saw that it is only to buy her more time. They don't believe she is curable and they told her that, but she didn't remember.
She is now actively searching for alternatives. Today she purchased a couple of books about nutrition and the immune system.
My role in this for a while will be to sit back and observe what she does for herself. I will give her space for a short while, but I will not watch her waste too much time. She doesn't have that luxury.
(If you happen to read this, Judy, please take special note of the above paragraph.)
